Well, yes... Stefan has come back from China and he brought presents for all of us. I got a Mongolian book and a Korean magazine. Stefan had no idea what the Mongolian book was about, but it turned out it's about Mongolian word formation (the Chinese title is 蒙古语构词法研究). The interesting thing is that the book is not written in the Cyrillic orthography used in Mongolia, but in the traditional style used in Inner Mongolia. That means the writing is to be read from top to bottom in lines running from left to right — the Mongolian script is the only one in the world running in this direction! It looks absolutely amazing, and I am astonished that I can still read most of the letters. However, not knowing the language and the words, it's nearly impossible to correctly guess the pronunciation of the word from the written form. Too many letters look alike (sometimes o=u=ö=ü; etc.) and they tend to stick to the spelling of Classical Mongolian. I've managed to write down the autor and title from the book — that's the letters on the left side. Isn't Mongolian one of the most beautiful scripts in the world?

Oh yes, the transcribed name of autor and book might be something along the lines of:
Тексигөрэн Жөгияба: "Монгол гэлэн өө үгэ бүтүгэгү ёсон оо сотолол"

I'm sure this is not quite correct and Lennart might correct me with the transcription... at least I hope so. ;)
