Wow. I don't have so much time these days to get into more language related stuff, but I still keep up with my Russian, Spanish, and Chinese (especially this, since it's what we speak at home now). But, as I was answering these, I was thinking "Wow, I'm going to have a high score with all of these answers I'm ticking." I guess I need to get on the ball again and start my planned Uyghur course!

Okay, Master Language Geek, I'm only a Senior Language Geek; I only got 37.25%. I bow to your linguistic supremacy. :)

(On that note - do you happen to know the formant frequencies for the voiced uvular fricative, or suggest a site or book that might be helpful? I'm having trouble transcribing an Ubykh passage that has a bit of background noise, so I'm going to the spectrograph to see if it's any help.)

The formant frequencies? Uhm, no... unfortunately not. If they're not mentioned in one of those überfamous Ladefoged books, then I don't know. Maybe you could record yourself saying that sound and check the frequency of the formants, say, in Audacity/CoolEdit/Goldwave?
