On
Monday, when coming home from the university, I received my newest eBay acquisition: a dictionary Upper Sorbian - German. It's a really nice one and the declensions and conjugations are all given in the first part of the book. It also contains Sorbian city names like Lipsk (Leipzig) or Běła Woda (Weißwasser). That makes 161 dictionaries in 75 languages, by now.
The evening
Laura and I went to the Moritzbastei to join the
"Chinese Evening", together with Stefan, Wang Yi Chen and a lot of other Chinese people. There were on-stage performances by many students from the University of Leipzig and the school of musics. One guy sang a song called 听海; and he sang extremely well! Some other Chinese played the piano, guitar or violin or an ancient instrument called Pi Pa. The guitar was played by Hua Liang, which happened to be the bald-headed Chinese guy with the basecap who studies Linguistics and Japanology
(I'm sure Ulrike knows him from seeing). Stefan and a Chinese girl performed a duet and... well... it was really... cool. Hope that's enough to say. ;) Also some children played instruments and sang
Frère Jacques in Chinese, French, English and German. Seems to be a pretty famous children's song in China, it seems...
Afterwards, Stefan and a Chinese girl asked if we'd like to have a drink, so we went with them to a table with about 4~5 Chineses. I talked to a guy sitting next to me and I asked him for his mobile phone, because I saw it was a Chinese one... he let me use it and I was able to figure out how to write with the stroke-input-method editor. Pretty fun to do, but I guess I'm faster in Pinyin. Perhaps not on a cell phone, though, I don't know. We talked, partly in Chinese, partly in German. I had the feeling Laura was bored, but she said she wasn't. Anyway, it was nice and worth it's 2€. :)
Yesterday didn't happen anything in particular. After Chinese I decided not to go to
History of Linguistics anymore – it makes no sense; I can't follow the course anyway... Nadia won't go there either, so her and I went to the city together, just to the Passage-Kino, because she wanted to have a look there. Tobias was there and I lent him my USB stick with the episodes of SATAAN. The evening I spent writing on my
Sprach(en)tod paper about the endangered writing systems. The deadline was yesterday, but
Mr. Wohlgemuth wrote in an e-mail that he's still to get the papers from the other students... good thing. I only got 4 hours of sleep, though.
Today I missed the bus, so I went to the previous bus stop where I met Lisa and Mandy and their classmate Huyên Thô Thi Thường (not sure about the spelling and the order of her names). She's sooo small! :D We all had a 10 minutes talk and it was quite funny, and I only got 5 minutes late for Chinese. Perhaps I'll continue to "miss" the 6:35 bus. ;)
After Chinese, I went to the library to look for 2 page numbers I have to add to my linguistics paper, and I was so tired I nearly fell asleep over the books. Later I went to the mensa (eyes half closed) to meet up with Ulrike, Laura, Svea and Anne. Улрике хатте хойте 2 зоооо зысъе Цёпфе, да фийл эс мир глайхь нох уверер, зий нихьт "нийдлихь" цу неннен. And once again, as everyday and everywhere, I saw that one girl from my linguistics classes who resembles Ines (though only verrrrrrrrry little, hence her name "Pseudo-Ines"). I should ask her for her real name someday...
Cognitive Stuff with Dr. Pechmann was really boring, Laura and I couldn't pay attention. He spoke about music all the time... and you never know when it's important to write down what he says. :/
Laura felt frustrated afterwards, also because she's not too sure about her choice to study Japanology next semester. Laura's quite moody these days. I wonder if that's Stefan's bad influence. ;)
I also bought the German version of
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". I have the English original at home, but it's way to big to carry around. I hope I will read this book.
By the way! We won the Fachschaftsrat elections! All of us 4 are on the list, I gained 71 votes, the FaRaLing will continue to exist. And the FaRaLing+ALuTI also gained the largest voter participation. Okay, that's enough... :>
